In memory of Joseph Pennisi

A leader who showed us the meaning of strength and courage with his perseverance. His determination and love of hockey was his inspiration. Let it be yours!
An Attitude of Gratitude

Vic Hadfield Speech on Joey’s Number 36 Retirement:
Hockey players by nature are fighters. From what I learned about Joey Pennisi is that he was a hockey player- tough, a leader, a fighter. He was the Captain..
There are different styles to being a Captain and a leader. Joey led through example.
While he accomplished much as a hockey player, he accomplished much more in his battle with cancer. His battle and how he handled his life through his fight is something everyone should learn from. He went about his hockey and his battle the same way- focused, quietly showing strength, courage, and leadership. He left a legacy we celebrate tonight.
Let this #36 be a motivating sign for everyone- his teammates, friends, relatives, his two younger brothers- Tommy & Mickey. Remember him, respect him, honor him- but above all we should learn from him- Strength, Courage, & Determination. All strong characteristics of a leader, strong characteristics of a hockey player. Thank you.

Vic Hadfield is a former N.Y. Rangers Captain, member of the famous G-A-G line. His number was retired by the Rangers in 2018.
