ABOUT OUR FOUNDATION
The Friends of Joe Pennisi Foundation was started by our family commensurate with the passing of our son Joe. Joe died on January 23, 2008 after a three-year battle with bone cancer. He was 19 years old at the time of his death, and was just beginning to explore his college years. Though short in years on this earth, Joe made a huge impact on all of us. He’s remembered as a good and loyal friend and teammates looked to him as “number 36” Captain of the Pearl River High School hockey team. He left us too soon, but taught us such a valuable life lesson; have an attitude of gratitude.
It is our family’s mission through this foundation to raise funds that go towards helping community related needs in the spirit of Joe’s strength, courage and determination.
Each year we host a golf outing, a dinner and auction. The proceeds go to help community-related needs. We also have a scholarship program supporting the Pearl River High School in Joe’s name to recognize graduating students from the school’s hockey team.
We hope you will join us in our efforts by making a donation. To do so, click on our ‘ Donation’ button on the homepage.
Thank you,
Barbara and Tom Pennisi and family
